Hermaphrodites and bananas

What you see

Why it happens

Stress (light leaks in the dark period, heat, damage) or genetics push a female plant to make male parts to pollinate itself.

What to do

  1. Pluck single nanners with tweezers and check daily
  2. Fix any light leak: the dark period must be fully dark
  3. If a plant makes many pollen sacs, move it away from the others before they open
