A male plant
What you see
- Small round balls on short stems where branches meet the main stem
- No white hairs (pistils) at those spots
- Appears in the first two weeks after the switch to 12/12
Why it happens
Regular seeds give both male and female plants. Males make pollen, not buds, and pollinate the females so they fill with seeds.
What to do
- Remove male plants as soon as you are sure, before the sacs open
- If you are unsure, wait a few days: female flowers grow white hairs, male flowers stay round
Next time
- Use feminized seeds if you do not want to sex plants
Easy to confuse with
- Hermaphrodites and bananas: Yellow banana shaped growths (nanners) appear between the buds
Not sure?
Take a photo of the point where a branch meets the main stem, close up and ask the Grow Doctor, or send it to the grow companion on Telegram.
