Nutrients
- Deficiencia de nitrógeno: Lower, older leaves turn pale green, then evenly yellow from the tip inwards
- Demasiado nitrógeno (la garra): Leaves are very dark green, almost shiny
- Deficiencia de fósforo: Dark, dull or bluish green leaves with brown to purple patches, often on older leaves
- Deficiencia de potasio: Leaf edges and tips turn yellow, then brown and crispy, starting on older leaves
- Deficiencia de calcio: Small brown spots with sharp edges on new and middle leaves
- Deficiencia de magnesio: Yellowing between the veins of older and middle leaves while the veins stay green
- Deficiencia de hierro: The newest leaves turn pale yellow while their veins stay green
- Deficiencia de azufre: New leaves turn evenly lime green or yellow, veins included
- Deficiencia de zinc: New leaves are small, narrow and wrinkled
- Deficiencia de manganeso: Yellowing between veins on new and middle leaves with a thin green border along the veins
- Deficiencia de boro: Growing tips die back or grow hollow and twisted
- Quemadura por nutrientes: Leaf tips turn yellow, then brown and crispy, a few millimetres in
- Bloqueo de pH: Several deficiencies at once: yellowing, spots and burnt edges together
Water and roots
- Riego excesivo: The whole plant droops with leaves that feel firm and swollen, not limp
- Riego insuficiente: Leaves hang limp and soft, like they have no strength
- Podredumbre de raíces: The plant wilts even when the medium is wet
Light, heat and air
- Quemadura por exceso de luz y decoloración: The top leaves closest to the light turn yellow or white while their veins stay green
- Estrés por calor: Leaves fold upwards along the middle like a taco
- Estrés por frío: Leaves and stems turn purple (beyond what the strain normally shows)
- Demasiado seco: Leaves curl and feel thin and dry
- Demasiado húmedo: Water drops on leaves or walls in the morning
- Cogollos en forma de zorra: Small spires of new calyxes stack on top of the buds
- Plántulas estiradas y largas: Long thin stems that fall over
- Quemadura por viento: Leaves near a fan are clawed, dry or torn
- Hermas y plátanos: Yellow banana shaped growths (nanners) appear between the buds
Pests
- Ácaros araña: Tiny white or yellow dots on the top of leaves
- Trips: Silvery, shiny scratches on leaves
- Mosquitos hongosos: Small black flies around the soil surface
- Pulgones: Clusters of small soft green, black or white insects under leaves and on new shoots
- Mosca blanca: Small white flying insects that rise when you touch the plant
- Orugas y gusanos de los cogollos: Holes eaten in leaves
- Ácaros russet y broad: Leaves curl up at the edges and turn shiny, glossy or bronze
- Pulgones de raíz: Plants stall and yellow without a clear reason
Diseases
- Oidio: White, flour like patches on the top of leaves
- Podredumbre de los cogollos (botritis): A bud has brown, dry or slimy parts inside
- Mancha foliar de septoria: Round yellow spots on lower leaves that turn brown with a yellow halo
- Marchitamiento por hongos: A seedling suddenly falls over
- Marchitamiento por fusarium: Leaves yellow and wilt on one side or one branch first
- Viroid latente del lúpulo (HLVd): Plants grow smaller than expected and stay stunted
Handling and timing
- Una planta macho: Small round balls on short stems where branches meet the main stem
- Shock por trasplante: The plant droops for a day or two after repotting
- Semillas que no germinan: No taproot after 5 to 7 days
- Autofloreciente estancada: An autoflower starts flowering while still very small
- Cosechado demasiado pronto o demasiado tarde: Early: most trichomes are still clear, pistils mostly white, effect thin and racy
